Winehouse's Rehab Among the Rockets
It has been reported that British singer Amy Winehouse is no longer saying "no, no, no" to rehab. Of all places in the world she has decided to enter a rehab program in Israel, and of all Israeli rehab programs she has chosen the one in Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. That's the largest city within the range of rockets from Gaza. I wonder if she realizes this. Maybe this is a new thing - adventure rehab, a cross between rehab and adventure tourism. Perhaps Winehouse, who is Jewish, is showing her solidarity with the junkies of southwestern Israel this way.

I doubt very much she realises where Ashkelon is and that it's in reach of Gaza's rockets. Winehouse has a beautiful singing voice but, despite all the high faluted and very public analysis that goes on here ("What really happened to Amy Winehouse?" was the title of a 3 or 4 part docudrama on Ch 4), Amy is essentially a silly person who seems to have a great need to emulate her love life to match the tragic songs she so loves. I hope she pulls through and comes out a more emotionally balanced character. A truly brilliant career would then await her... as well as perhaps a great love life.
